in Finland

Music has always played a pivotal role in my life since a young boy in The UK.I followed Teddy music then transgressed in to a punk Rocker in 1978,Anarchy was the name of the game and anti establishment was to dominate my life for some years as a rebellious teenager. These were the early days of The Sex Pistols,The Ruts,Generation X and Siouxsie and the Banshees. Before this I must have been listening whilst sat in the rear seat of my fathers car,to bands such as the Legendary,Deep Purple,Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd,Not to mention hundreds of other influential Old School Rock bands

The Infamous Marianne Faithfull

Upon moving abroad to live in Finland,I had only the memories of Rock Concerts I had visited whilst living in Britain and a hold-all full of music cassettes. Not being Blasphemous but they were pretty much my companion and Bible and went wherever I went.Almost inseparable so to say.

A pleasant surprise on arriving in Helsinki Finland

Quickly noticing the Finnish People dress code,I realized that they were heavily influenced and in to Heavy Rock Music.Still today if you visit a bar you will hear many old classics from the likes of Deep Purple,Led  Zeppelin,Motor head and Black Sabbath. This was and still is great for me.I have previously posted on Finnish Rock Legends, however I still believe being British that the cream of Rock Bands originate from England!

The Cult!One of many favourites

So was I happy to find out that within 2 months of arriving in Helsinki Finland,Marianne Faithfull was to play here in The Kultturitalo,Helsinki. It took me back a few years and was great to hear her sing,”Broken English”,Previously only heard on vinyl. From this point forward I was introduced to other bands that I had not really heard a lot of and two in particular I took a likening to.The first is Molly Hatchett(Fall of The Peacemaker)from USA and the second is George Thorogood(1 Bourbon.1 Scotch,1 Beer). It seemed that Finland was the in place to scout out new music and sounds.

Old School Rock Plays live in Finland

Robert Plant & Jimmy Page !Led Zeppelin at their best

There are a surprisingly large line up of Old School Rock Bands that come to perform in and around Finland;last year I narrowly missed seeing Deep Purple play live in Porvoo,Finland.I shall Endeavour to keep my eyes and ears peeled so as to not miss the opportunity next time they visit.Finland is a serious contender for those rock fans who wish to travel and visit music festivals. The weather is now good here in Finland and it is early spring:Wait for the summer and festival season to kick-in.As a holiday destination, with music as a setting, peace and friendly acquaintances as a back.drop,You can not go far wrong stopping over in Finland

Finding a professional wedding reception DJ is one of the most important pieces in planning your big day. A good DJ will be able to keep the party going and make all of the guests feel like they do not want the party to ever end. A professional wedding reception DJ knows how to keep the guests dancing by playing the right music at the right time. Wedding DJs know that a few songs from each era, plus some schmaltzy music to make the tears flow, will give each generation of guests an opportunity to dance to the music they are familiar with. If only modern music is played, older guests may not enjoy themselves as much.

I didn’t realise Billy Idol was still touring, do you remember Generation X? I used to like a bit of Punk, my hero was Joe Strummer RIP.

Yes he is still playing gigs and comes to Finland shortly in June.Generation X were popular then back in 1979 and since Billy has gone it alone he has been successful.Maybe the video brings back good memories
