Adventure Hiking Throughout Finland
For many people walking or Hiking on wilderness trails is not only a fitness thing but can offer an escape from the daily grind of city life.It is a recreation free from clutter and gives the chance to be at one with nature and the wilderness.I remember hiking or trekking as a child on Dartmoor,England as a child.Usually my father would round the family up on Sundays and drive us to a starting point on Dartmoor. What followed would be a hike across rocky terrain and hills of various distances. It was a good introduction to map reading and navigation. There are many such interesting and extremely popular hiking trails to be found in Finland especially Lapland,Northern Finland
Hiking trails in Finland
There are many hiking trails to choose from if you plan to get in touch with the wilderness and nature of Finland. It must be said that the trails do differ in length, difficulty and isolation. Some hiking trails for beginners run close to main roads so safer for people with little or no map reading skills. The beginner hiker trails in Lapland are well marked and maintained by the Finnish Authorities. The trails are easily accessible;so much so that wheelchair users can easily move about. Most of the trails in Finland are literally unmarked, hilly and can present problems to people who are unfit and do not have any map reading skills(Orienteering)

They are only separated by about a days walk. They are basic in design, offering shelter, fire, water and a roof over your head.Again they are maintained by the Finnish Municipals.
There are many care centers dotted along the trails that offer support and advice to hikers on the beaten track.Next post,I shall be showing some of the interesting sites to look out for and details of Hiking trails in Lapland,Finland. Yes there are some beautiful scenic hiking trails in Finland and especially in the region of Lapland. One piece of advice though.!Make sure you carry a good insect repellant especially in Summer or you will get bitten badly. There are quite a few free cabins to be gfound along tyhese walkways. All that is asked of you is to leave the cabin clean and rubbish free for the next hikers
