What is this British Expatriate Blog about?

British Expatriate in Helsinki Finland Blog is primarily focused on my observations and life-changing experiences of a country I first settled in,1988 Finland.I have ´lived abroad for 22 years now in Finland. This blog aims to truly depict leaving the UK and emigrating abroad

Here are a few of the topics that I explore on this Blog

This blog`s content and myself are a work in progress. My views on things and the subjects that this Blog covers, will no-doubt change as I gain a deeper understanding of Finland and the Finnish People. What I am sharing on these pages are personal views and points that I have observed so far, from becoming a British Expatriate and settling down here  in Helsinki Finland.I hope you can have some use for it too.

British Expatriate,behind The Name

Greg, the expat who found his home

Well,my name is Gregory Barr and I am a 45-year-old man born in Birmingham,England.I was fortunate enough to be born in to a Royal Naval family. This in turn offered me the opportunity to enroll at The Royal Hospital School,Holbrook,UK.This is a public boarding school,of which I attended 5 years. This was to set the stage for my travelling for the next 10 years. In 1988 I met a Finnish woman in London, and with in 4 months we married and I moved abroad to Helsinki,Finland.

I devour good literature, listen to others point of view and enjoy meeting people with differing cultures, religions views and open-mindedness

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” – St. Augustine

I am not an expert, but a British Expatriate and I am merely a man who has chosen his own path. For me it has worked out.The things I write may not please every one. However they have given me much enjoyment and have had a positive effect on my life.In Hindsight,I have achieved more when my back is against the wall.

If you have any questions or comments you can use the Contact form and I shall try my best to answer your inquiries. For quick navigation please use the Blog Archives Page

I hope you gain as much pleasure and amusement as I have had living abroad as a British Expatriate in Helsinki Finland and Re-living  my moving abroad  for  a new life. This Blog is my account of becoming a British Expatriate

You are a very persuasive writer. I can see this in your article. You have a way of writing compelling information that sparks much interest.
