British Expatriates meet in Esplanade

in Helsinki, welcome

Well, summer is under way,though no one would of thought so a week ago.The skies have been laden with grey clouds and temperatures dropped in Finland.Today the sun has decided to bless us again.With that I have decided that I ought to mingle a little more with old friends,if I can track them down.As there are few British Expatriates in Helsinki,I have gotten to know where most hang out.The best place to find some of them is on Esplanade in Helsinki Downtown.

One sure way of finding old acquaintances is to visit one of the many festivals going on in Finland this summer.Failing that I shall just visit Esplanade and Kauppatori(Market Square) in the center of Helsinki.This is such a popular place,that even the
president of Finland wants to live on it.

In the summer crowds flock here on their way to kauppatori or to catch boats to nearby islands.These boat trips and ferries are an excellent way to see the Finnish coastline and some of the smaller islands.The area is alway`s packed with local Finnish people,tourists and just about anybody who wishes to sit on the grass verges,picnic and watch people and life passing by.Many folks can be seen eating smoked fish(Baltic Herring or salmon)and drinking wine or beer.It is a great day out fr friends and families.

There are usually musicians playing.One group seem to visit Helsinki every year;They are from Chile and they play their pan pipes for hours.Good music I have to say.I can go to this area and spend hours there.Time just seems so endless and with the summer evenings being longer,it is 2300 and the skies are still blue.Many a time I have gotten home after 0100 and thought to myself,where did the time go!For those who do not object to the sun,you will brown you body quite well.As an added extra for those new to Finland,you may bump in to a few British Expatriates on your travels

Hi,
Bit more difficult with blogspot as no real plugins available.You need to check for any wordpress updates.
However there is some basic information you should put in to prtactise yo reduce spam comments.As follows;

# All links will automagically use the rel=”nofollow” tag, so they’ll receive no PageRank boost.
# You can choose to receive notification by email when new comments have been posted on your blog. This way, you can monitor them for spam and delete them when necessary.
# You can enable word verification for your comments. This will require an extra step in the commenting process, which will deter automated comment spamming systems.
# You can enable comment moderation, which will let you view new comments and approve or reject them before they appear on your blog

I hope this helps.The other option is to purchase a domain name and go along the wordpress.org routem where you can easily install ant-spam plugins like askimet
Good luck
